The Michelin Guide's review
The Bear River swampy delta is home to millions of migratory birds, with over 200 species protected by the Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge since 1928. It was in these marshy swamps that the very first flat-bottomed airboats that are still in use today in Florida and Louisiana were invented. The wildlife of this ecosystem is well explained in the Visitor Center and visitors can observe birds from the water or in the reeds only a few miles away.
