The Michelin Guide's review
Mainly spared by the bombing of 1945, this part of Dresden occupies the territory of Altendresden (Old Dresden), which burned down in 1685. It was renamed Neustadt (New Town) when it was rebuilt, at which time stone was made mandatory. An alternative neighbourhood after reunification, Neustadt is now more upmarket, while remaining the haunt of artists and creatives. You will see some fine buildings, trendy shops and small bars where you can go out for drinks.
