The Michelin Guide's review
The square, the palace and the marble church, a little further on, were designed in 1749 by Frederick V to create the heart of a new neighbourhood, which he planned to call Frederiksstaden. In 1768, the equestrian statue of Frederick V, by the French sculptor Jacques François Joseph Saly (1717-1776), was installed in the centre of the square.
