Situated near the confluence of the Skeena and Kispiox rivers, Kispiox boasts around twenty impressive totem poles in a waterside field. The oldest date from 1880 and the most recent are from around 1995. They belong to the different families or wilp (houses, divided into three main pdeek (clans): the Gisgaast, Lax See'l and Lax Gibuu. Each clan is represented by one or several shields.
