The Michelin Guide's review
To the left of the stairs by which you arrived, there is a monumental flight of steps leads up to the Propylaea, the porch of the new palace. If it is inaccessible, continue on as far as the corridor of the magazines. Below, on the hillside, note the vestiges of the first palace (not open to the public). The columned hall, or "main hall" opens at the far left of the corridor. It gives off an impression of robustness, with its heavy stone stiles.
