The Michelin Guide's review
Between 1670 and 1687, all that existed here was the Trianon de Porcelaine, a love nest for Louis XIV and Mme de Montespan. Following deterioration, it was replaced by the Grand Trianon, a delicate mainly pink marble château, by Hardouin-Mansart in the 17C, at the request of Louis XIV. From then on, it was reserved for the royal family and used by Napoleon I and Louis-Philippe. Admire the grandiose Buffet d'Eau fountain in the gardens, now the scene of official receptions.
