In the Middle Ages, this castle was one of the Habsburg's strongholds in Carinthia. In the mid-16C, it passed to Bartholomäus Khevenhüller then from the 17C was no longer maintained. Today, a café-and-restaurant and an eagles' aviary that hosts bird of prey flight displays, are housed within the ruins.
